Managing Director and co-founder of Environmental Design Practice Sdn. Bhd. He graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia, with a B.Sc. (Architecture) in 1986 and a post-graduate Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) in 1988. He received his MBA from Heriot-Watt University in 2000. In 2022, he obtained his DBA from University of Wales Trinity St Davies in Swansea.
He began his professional career as a project architect at Killen + Doran Architects in New South Wales, Australia and subsequent to that was attached to Jurong Town Corporation, Singapore as a government architect. He then returned to Malaysia and trained under Dr. Ken Yeang at T. R. Hamzah & Yeang Sdn. Bhd. His last professional attachment before setting up EDP was at Perunding Alam Bina Sdn. Bhd., Kuala Lumpur where he primarily undertook both private and government hospital projects.
Dr. Chua is a Professional Architect as certified by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (Malaysian Board of Architects), a Corporate Member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) (Malaysian Institute of Architects), and had served as a committee Member of PAM’s Housing & Practice Committee. He was a part-time lecturer and co-formulator of the SJA-PAM’s first Diploma in Architecture course and a Senior Part-time Lecturer at P.J. College of Art & Design.
He began his professional career as a Project Architect in Killen + Doran Architects, New South Wales, Australia before returning to Malaysia as a project architect for T.R. Hamzah & Yeang Sdn. Bhd., Kuala Lumpur where he managed projects ranging from high rise residential towers to township developments. In 1992, he joined Kumpulan Senireka Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur where he was involved in designing commercial corporate projects and private hospitals before setting up EDP.
Yap is a Registered Architect as certified by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (Malaysian Board of Architects), a Corporate Member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) (Malaysian Institute of Architects) and a Corporate Member of Institut Perekabentuk Dalaman Malaysia (Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers). He had previously served as a committee Member of PAM’s Housing & Practice Committee. While he was in Australia, Yap was awarded a prize by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Annual New South Wales Chapter for outstanding performance in post-graduate work in the state.

He began his professional career at ArchiCentre Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia as a project architect for various residential and mixed development projects in Peninsular and East Malaysia. Hue has also worked with China Construction Design Intl. (CCDI), China as a Project Manager / Architect where CCDI collaborated with international architects such as Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), Herzog & De Meuron and CO Architects for various institutional and residential projects in China and the Middle East, such as Qatar National Library and Shantou University Medical College. Besides, Hue has had experience in property development when he was a Development Manager for several residential and commercial developments in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Hue is a Professional Architect registered with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (Malaysian Board of Architects) and a Corporate Member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM). Currently serving as an Ordinary Council Member for PAM (2024/25), Hue co-chairs the Professional Practice Committee and the Human Settlement and Urban Well-Being Committee. Hue is also a Corporate Member of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and a registered APEC Architect.
