The 199-bedded nursing home and medicare centre is the first purpose-built facility for ECON Medicare in Malaysia. In Singapore, they are the largest healthcare provider in residential medical and nursing care services. The brief was to design according to a client-centred care model which combined the best of the East and West through Traditional Chinese Medicine, Physiotherapy, and healthcare services. In designing the building, EDP struck a balance between making full use of the external building envelope and the needs of its senior occupants for convalescing in natural light and privacy. As the client’s flagship facility in Malaysia, it was crucial to incorporate the client’s international identity in the building design.
